소크라테스 산파술’의 구성과 적용에 관한 비판적 고찰
본 논문은 플라톤에 의해 해석되어 구현된 소크라테스의 철학적 방법으로서 ‘문답식 대 화법(=변증법)’과 플라톤 대화편 『테아이테토스』에서 묘사되는 ‘소크라테스의 산파술’과 의 관계에 관한 비판적 고찰을 목적으로 한다. 이에 필자는 우선 ‘산파술’에서 ‘논박술’을 배제하여 이해하려는 해석 전통을 비판적으로 검토하고, 이러한 이해가 편협되어 있음을 지적할 것이다. 이를 바탕으로 필자는 『테아이테토스』에서 묘사된 ‘산파술’은 반드시 ‘논 박술’과 결합된 방식으로 사용되는 방법임을 관련 텍스트의 분석을 근거로 주장한다. 또 한, 플라톤에 의해 기획된 ‘소크라테스의 산파술’은 논박술과 함께 상기술로 구성됨으로써 ‘소크라테스적 문답식 대화법(=변증법)’ 전체를 지칭하는 비유로서 이해되어야 함을 입증 하고자 한다.
A Critical Study on the Composition and Application of ‘Socrates’ Midwifery’
The aim of this treatise is to critically review the relationship between the conversation in the question and answer (= dialectic), which is interpreted and realized by Plato as the philosophical method of Socrates, and the midwifery (= maieutics) of Socrates, which is described in Plato's dialogues Theaetetus. Therefore, I want first to critically examine an traditional interpretation, in which one tries to understand by excluding elenctic from the midwifery, and then point out that this understanding is too narrow. In relation to this, based on the analysis of the relevant texts, I claim that the midwifery described in Theaetetus are necessarily used in a method connected with the elenctic. Furthermore, it is to be proved that the midwifery of Socrates designed by Plato is to be understood as a metaphor referring to the entirety of the socratic conversation in the question and answer (= dialectic) by composing it from the elenctic and anamnesis.
