This article discusses on François Jullien’s comparative analysis of the Aristotle’s logos concept which forms the basis of Western reason and the taoism of Laozi and Chuang-tzu. Jullien’s work is conducted in two stages: ‘detour’ and ‘retour’. In the comparative analysis of the logos and taoism, the detour consists to look at the concept of Aristotle’s logos unfamiliarly and to present its prejudice through the taoist concept of process and immanence. But the phase of retour is not just a deconstruction of Western reason. Rather, the tradition of ‘dialogue and public consent, which has been taken for granted in Western philosophy, should be re-emphasized as an important value, especially at the political level. At the same time, at the stage of retour, we can derive the ethics of connivance, which could not be expressed as the value of life in the logos tradition of the West. We can not give up any of the two values. As long as we pursue the development of science and run democracy, we should keep the tradition of Logos, but we can not and should not reduce our life to the field of knowledge and politics. The important meaning of the comparative philosophy that deals front to front with the logos and taoism would be that they have left a practical task to harmonize knowledge, politics and connivance.
